Truss rod won't loosen.

So, I have this steel string acoustic guitar I haven't touched in some time. Last time I strung it up I may have gone with lighter strings than usual, because there's almost no relief. It's not back-bowed though, just checked. So I tried to loosen the rod, it moved less than 1/8 of a turn and then just won't loosen anymore. I don't think the rod on this particular guitar has ever been adjusted unless someone did it at the store. It's a cheap beater Washburn OM/000 sized acoustic. I've only encountered stiff truss rods when tightening, not when loosening. Tips? I thought of lubricating the nut/thread, but it's kind of hard to get into it from the soundhole side. Thanks guys.

Re: Truss rod won't loosen.

If you think its worth it, get it to a good repairman.

I had a truss rod nut seized to the rod this year and the whole rod came out with it. Luckily, that was an inexpensive fix... What would be really bad is if you broke the rod at the threads.

Re: Truss rod won't loosen.

If you are brave a little heat would probably do it. That's in a really awkward spot by your description so best to have a pro have a go at it.
