Hi guys just wanted to ask around if anyone knows if a 5 position strat type blade switch will work with a humbucker and single coil 2 pickup configuration? If yes can someone share a diagram.thanks in advance.

Actually am planning to upgrade my fender Bronco from a single pickup guitar to a 2 pick-up guitar, was wondering if i could put to use a 5 way strat replacement blade switch to switch between a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil in the neck position? If yes what would the 5 position's on the blade switch be? I have a Seymour Duncan jb junior in the bridge and i plan to install a Wilkinson strat replacement single coil pickup in the neck position.

Cheers
Tuki

You sort of have to figure out what you want the switch to do. You will have more options if the humbucker is 4 conductor, and the single coil is either a 4 conductor humbucer in a single size, or a tapped single. Figure out what kind of sounds you want and how you are gonna use the sounds, first.

with a standard 5 way blade your options are limited. I'd highly recommend a super 5 way blade and you've got plenty of useful options as even the more obscure 5 way blade diagrams that are standard most of the sounds they offer in my opinion are not the best. Or just in weird places.

Are both pickups 2 wire or 4? If both are 4 wire I have plenty of super 5 way diagrams I drew up last month with the help of a few people on here as I don't have any guitars I had the heart to take apart to try them out. The allparts super 5 way switches for around 20$ american will do the trick.

Figure out what you want to do first, then come up with a diagram. I'd try something along these lines . . . but it will require a super switch:

Single coil on it's own (strat neck sound - will hum)
Single coil and one coil of 'bucker in parallel (tele-ish sound - hum free)
single coil and one coil of 'bucker in series (virtual middle humbucker - hum free)
Both coils of 'bucker in parallel (kinda single bridge sound - hum free)
Both coils of 'bucker in full series (rock - hum free)

Personally this is what I would do
