Ok so im limited to a few choices now. All this choices costs the same however some are obtained from ebay, thus cheaper but no warranty. I play Classic rock (GNR, zeps) blues (SRV) and radiohead type music. So here are my chocies, remember all costs the same, but which is more suitable for garage and room use and for my type of music :) thanks in advance. Also, as im located in australia, my choices are more limited

Ohh and my guitar is an EPI les paul custom with Pearly Gates Neck/Custom bridge

1. Peavey classic 30 - total cost :1000AUD
2. Vox Ac15cc1 + Ibanez TS9 tube screamer - total cost :950AUD
3. Fender blues deluxe reissue - total cost :1000AUD
4. Traynor YCV50 blue - total cost : 900AUD (ebay)
5. Crate v18-112 - total cost :700 AUD (ebay)

Im more towards the classic 30 and ac15cc1 with a tube screamer as i heard the gain is not much from the vox. Cant get a pedal for the fender as my budget is AUD1000 MAX. So which suits me best and any other choices for me?

Thank you guys!!

You will be happy with any of the first four. The AC-15 will retain it's value best, the Peavey 30 is a great amp. IMHO....FWIW

With those choices I believe I would go with the Traynor first, then the Vox. Have fun with whatever you get!

Heard recommendations for ceriaton jtm45 from other forums. Heard many good things, but is the extra cost worth it?

My vote is for the Fender with a inexpensive or used distortion pedal like the Bad Monkey.

I voted for the Fender mainly for the tone, flexibility and resale value, in case you decide to trade up in the future. OTOH, its a great sounding amp that you probably will want to keep.

Unless your bedroom and garage cancomfortably seat between 70-100 people, I wouldn't go with any of those. I'd go with a nice SS or modeling amp instead.

I can vouch for the crate, although i think you could grab a palomino 30w class A for about the price you want.

Most of those amps can get you close to the same sounds. The fender will have the best cleans, but the dirty channel leaves folks wanting more. And i generally dislike peavey amps, but the classic 30 is pretty cool. I do like Traynor and Vox, but the vox wont dirty up quite as well.

so if i had to say, Either the Trayor or a Crate (you can pick up a palomino 30 on ebay for about 300 US, not sure what that would cost down under)

Absolutely! Let me tell you about the Bad Cat Alley Cat! 7.5w all tube 2 channel. It screams loud enough for band practice. That little amp sounds like an amp twice its size! Used they probably go for about 800-900. Sounds better than all the amps on your list.

For more cost concious you can get a Laney Lionheart 5w combo. Very loud for sure. A little bigger than typical 5w amp but very light and sounds spectacular. Also sounds better than any amp on your list.

Classic 30: I like these amps, they never stop surprising me when i plug into one. My one complaint here is the dirty channel. Some of the amps getting a little thin on the dirty side (thin as in lack of balls)

Vox ac-15: The new style vox's sound a little sterile to me. Good cleans though.

Fender Blues Deluxe: Fender as always has a good hold in the clean dept. But as most people say, the dirty's are best left to a good OD pedal.

Traynor: I've actually never played through one of these, I'll have to make it a point to next time I'm around one. Word is it's close to a fender/vox mix.

Crate v18: I was actually with thespricket when he bought his vintage club. We were almost sold on the v32 until we tried the vintage club. The v32 just doesn't have as much bass and over all roundness. The V series sounds great on its own, but the vintage club is a nice step up. Only thing though is power. The 30 watt VC will rip your face off in a small room at 3.5.

Most of these amps are stocked in music shops in the US, I'd say (if you have the chance, not sure where you live down there) grab your guitar, head out, and do some side by side playing.

Re: Tube amp for room and garage use. Need quick help

I live in australia and the crate v32 cost a freaking 1795 AUD which is USD$ 1600 approximately!!! Crate are ridiculously expensive here thats why i listed it out of my choice :)

Thanks guys for the inputs!!

Yeah, but, that would just be way too logical. :biglaugh:

Re: Tube amp for room and garage use. Need quick help

i like all those amps... except i never tried the crate...

the others are good amps for me.... i like the Vox... The Fender Blues Deluxe reissue is a great amp and many SRV clones here have used the original ones here in the bars... The tRaynor is great as well, i like it's drive channel... I own a C30 and it has become my number one jam/gig amp.... it was cheap, it sounds good, it is not too heavy and it works well on small and large stages...
