Tube amp with Blackstar HT-Metal pedal?

Hey there! i need help with buying my first tube amp. I play mostly metal, but can occasionally do some blues. My guitar is a custom-made explorer ( mahogany body, maple neck/ rosewood) with JH EMGs, i ordered a Blackstar HT-Metal pedal and i should receive it in a few days. so here is the thing, i want to buy a tube amp which i'll mostly use home and might gig with it too. There is a guy who is selling his Peavey classic 30, the black old one but he upgraded the speaker to the vintage 30 and also re-tubed the amp with groove tubes, but that was 2 years ago.. and this amp is used for about 10 years. I also saw the Laney LC-15 110 and the VC-15 110, they seem alright but i don't know what is the main differences between them. In my country there aren't much great amps, and if there are any, they are pretty expensive!

I just want to use the amp's clean channel along with the HT-Metal, so i want an amp that would take the pedal well and would be reliable.

Would you recommend the used Peavey classic 30 with the upgrades? or a New laney LC-15 or VC-15?

Not trying to sound like a dik but why did you buy the pedal before the amp?

The Laneys take pedals extremely well!

I just got a Vc30 theres a thread about it on here.

The Lc30 has a heavier more gainy more marshally drive channel

Well my primary plan was to get a high gain tube amp to get this nice tube distortion naturally out of the amp and maybe if needed just boosting it, but where I live, we rarely even find tube amps, and if there are any they are usually low gain amps or bluesy amps, so I've decided to get a distortion pedal with a clean sounding amp. And I really liked the sound of the ht metal so I thought I would get it then get an amp that would adapt to it and not the other way around.

I was actually thinking of that, but since it's the same preamp as the pedal wouldn't be like a waste? And I tried the ht-5r it had an okay clean channel but not like WOW. But yea, maybe it would sound nice with the pedal since they are both the same brand.. Anyone have any experience with that?

From what ive heard and seen it's like feeding bacon to a pig. It will basically sound the same since like you said it's the same preamp. But since you bought the pedal maybe try looking at Fender amps if you can't find a Blackstar to try out.

For what it's worth I really dig the clean channels on the H&K lunchbox amps, maybe look at the tubemeister 36 or 18.....if you're not playing with a band yet why bother with a 50 wt or above amp....sometimes less is more.....There's lots of great small tube amps out there now....Those little laneys are cool....negotiating a deal on one right now myself....

Assuming the pedal is new couldn't you just return it and buy a blackstar amp with the cash????

First of all i bought it used ( got it for a good price), second thing that made me buy the pedal and not the amp was that i read that this pedal has even MORE gain than the amp itself! and as i mentioned before, it's not like the blackstar HT series has the best cleans compared to fenders and stuff, right?

I wish i could FIND nice amps in my country, but unfortunately, the only tube amps available here are Blackstar HT series, fender superchamp x2 ( my only problem with this one is the fact that it doesn't have an effects loop), Laney LC & VC series ( also some solid state ones) and the used Peavey classic 30 that i stated in my question.. so it's too bad really :(

some might disagree but when I saw the super champ x2 on the list I'll say I didn't exactly like the way they took dirt pedals. Too much level/volume boost from a pedal makes the DSP distort in a rather unmusical way. And despite what some info on the net would tell you, the SCXD and SCX2 can't bypass the digital signal processor. There is not a real "tone stack" and even the normal channel is shaped digitally. The SCXD and SCX2 are cool but I don't recommend them anytime someone mentions pedals as I've never found pedals+digital to be near the same as pedals+all-tube
but, If you won't be using much volume boost then you should be fine because the blackface clean (the normal channel, and voice 4 on the 2nd channel) is fantastic.
Also, the wimpy 10" speaker is a little bit of a drag. Rather boxy sounding.

I'd take a classic 30 over the SCX2 any day if pedals were my weapon of choice (and these days they are).

Good news for me, i just received my blackstar ht metal! so i'll go try it out with the C30 and compare it to the laney VC-15 :D i'm expecting that the C30 would sound better since it has a vintage 30, i guess ill just have to find out..
