Tube has strange glow

Just started playing my classic 30 at a low volume and I noticed the second last power tube is about 4 times hotter looking than the others. The last one is slightly redder than the others as well. Also getting the best bluesy tone I've ever had. Something up with my tubes, anything bad for the amp here?

Re: Tube has strange glow

If the plates are glowing orange, don't play it til you get it fixed. Bad tube or resistor are common culprits. If it is blue, it is not a prob. I have many 40 yr old tubes that have plenty of blue going on. Not healthy when it is running hot....

Is that an El84 head? If so tube failure is common, el84s are not the sturdiest glass on the planet.

The plates are those grey metal, uh... plates inside the tube. Basically the biggest, easiest thing to see. If they are glowing orange, you have a problem.

If you're talking about a flickering blue glow on the inside of the glass, its OK.
