I'm doing some research on replacement Tubes for my Hot Cat 30r head ,and would love some feedback on what some of you all think....what are the best out there!

what's your budget?

NOS Tesla, Tungsram, and RFT (if your amp is a little bright) are great for 12AX7s in the tone stages. Siemens/RFT would be my recommendation for the EL34s. The reverb and FX tubes should be fine with any current production 12AX7 tested for gain and output. for the phase inverter, I'm a fan of the JAN Phillips 12AX7 but something like a balanced Chinese 12AX7 (well-selected) would work about as well and cost a lot less.

If you're looking at new production tubes only to keep costs down, Tung-Sol (russian) 12AX7 in the tone stages and SED Winged C EL34s.

you don't need to replace the rectifier tube unless it's given up the ghost but if you want, you can pick up a USA-made NOS 5AR4 while they're still available since these tubes will last just about forever (GE, Phillips, RCA. etc.)

talk to Mike from KCA. The most honest and reliable NOS tube vendor in the U.S. (also has one of if not the largest stock of NOS tubes in one place).

take a look at the catalog too. keep in mind that with NOS tubes, he might have them one month but not the next. they go in and out of stock.

the preamp tubes I mentioned were $40-80 each and the power tubes are about $150/pair. NOS tubes can get much more expensive than that.
