Tube pedals though solid state amps

I was wondering if the solid state amp would "take away" the tube sound from a pedal like the SD Twin Tube Mayhem. Anyone knows ?

When I saw this, I immediately thought, "Hmmm... Marshall Valvestate." I'm pretty sure that's the same concept. I also think the Randall T2 and V2 would have the same makeup. Basically, all these are tube (or tube and solid-state) preamps through a solid-state power section.

Oh, in that case, I already know the result. My Laney LV300 (combo) is built the same way, tube preamp, SS power.

Hey, I have that same amp. I was actually going to use that as an example. Cool, man. :beerchug:

This **** ****in' rocks ! And what's more... it's ****in' LOUD ! hahahaha

Re: Tube pedals though solid state amps

Do you mean you already have the pedal ? Anyway, Valvestate and the Laney do not really have a tube pre-amp, they have a tube IN the pre-amp which is most definitely not the same thing. There's still a lot of SS circuitry involved which will not react the same as an all tube pre-amp. Still, if it sounds good it IS good.

Re: Tube pedals though solid state amps

my ss combo amp loves my duncan twintube classic - i just make sure that the amp is set for max clean headroom so as not to get nasty ss power section distortion ... i turn the volume on the amp up and use the volume on the pedal to make it manageable .. nice n crunchy to sweet and singing ...

enjoy
