TubeyChorus

I was wondering what is the most "analog" sounding chorus pedal that will give the burtal, panzer-armor-march wall of sound in the likes of Judas Priest's "Priest Live"/Accept's "Balls to the Wall"?

Re: TubeyChorus

Waht's yer price range?

My Foxrox TZF covers just about everything I will ever need.

Oh and ... yes, it does a K I L L E R Hendrix/Blackmore swirlfest, as well as a number of other steller sounds:smokin:

I can't have anthing even remotely close to digital sounding, my TZF keeps ME very happy.:smokin:

Re: TubeyChorus

Trilogy, thanks man but it is out of my league at this price, but sounds awesome you mean you can nail that "Catch the Rainbow" swirl with this thing " wow! Basically you are saying this thing is very close to echo plex ?
Now I know that chorus and flanger are very similar but I don't really know what is the difference, and can this thing just thicken my sound up with out the swirl?
P.S.
Can anybody recomend anything else ?

Re: TubeyChorus

What are you looking to spend doc? Back around 1982 I had an MXR stereo chorus which was the most incredible chorus I've ever heard. I played Priest with that chorus and I got the sound you're describing. There's one on ebay now for $120 with a buy it now of $180. I know the 180 is out of your range, but maybe the 120 isn't. On a side note, it is a noisy unit.

There's also the new M-134 by MXR that's getting rave reviews, many saying it's the best chorus on the market BUT--I've never heard it. Maybe someone else has and can review it for us. That one also looks like it can be had used for around $100 to $130 if you shop around.

Hope this helps.

Re: TubeyChorus

Arion Stereo Chorus (SCH-1) from the olden days with the silver label is a nice chorus. Sounds like a choice old Boss unit that people seem to really like today. It has a tone knob, so you can dial out the synthetic upper-mid-heavy chorus sounds and have a very warm and organic sounding chorus. It spreads out the sound nicely and really sounds good in Mono. Don't know how it sounds in stereo yet, but I've heard it's mindblowing.

When I had it, I could do the chorus sounds on the Screaming For Vengence album really close.

All this talk about these things made me get one one ebay, lol (late 70s MXR). It's a dead unit but I have an old circuit board so I'm gonna put it together. It should be here on Monday so I'll let you know if my memory is good or if I just don't know what I'm talking about.

These things were going for $180 but ONE just sold for $40

Re: TubeyChorus

One of the best Chorus pedals I've tried has been the Retro-Sonic Chorus Ensemble. NAILS the 70's Boss Chorus vibe and has Vibrato to boot. Sweet pedal.

Re: TubeyChorus

Never played it, but if the price is right, I know I'M sold on the Retro-Sonic! (Guess which sound clip inspired this!)

Re: TubeyChorus

I'm bummed. Got my MXR stereo chorus today (late 70's model) but the guts I bought for it don't match up. Gonna have to see if the local tech can get it running. There goes another $50 at least!

Re: TubeyChorus

So I went to GC today, and played electro-harmonics Small Clone Chorus ....
I am not sure, some parts about it I loved others I did not at all .... at the end of the day could not make up my mind either way ... What are the digital elements of Small Clone or is it as analog as the guy was saying? What's your experience with these boxes.

Did you finish fixing your MXR???

Re: TubeyChorus
