Tuners for new project?

I recently acquired a Epip 1960 Tribute Plus body, and I am very excited about it! I would like some of your all ideas in replacement tuners? I really don't want to fill any holes, so the set screw would have to be at 6 o'clock! I was thinking of the open back nonsealed Hipshot 3x3 classics. I really like the look.
I know what came on it was grover 106's and I am not completely against using them, but I would have to buy them as well, body came striped, but in great shape. I was also wondering you all opinion of that models body? I am impressed so far nice think cap!

Re: Tuners for new project?

After my first use of the Planet Waves (D'Addario) locking tuners, it is the only one I use now. I have about 20 sets and have installed them in at least half of my guitars.

Re: Tuners for new project?

Hey thanks to my fellow SD Forum users! this was what I was looking for. Now on the Hipshots what about the locking ones or the plain open Gear classics tuner? This is my dilemma, I like the looks of both but think the open classic are just bad ass looking
Some a little more help?
I am open to others I have a set of Schaller m6 top locker that look great and are lite weight, a lot like PRS uses.
I know the grover 106 model locker is what the guitar when it was new. But I thought that there might be something better. Thanks again

Re: Tuners for new project?

Maybe a dumb question but doesn't Wilkinson make the Planet Waves tuning machines ?

Re: Tuners for new project?

I've got the locking hipshot tuners, and I would say go for the locking over the classic for the better tuning stability. Mine still have the open gear back and look pretty sweet
