I found out that the EF86 is THE gremlin in my amp. It had some microphonic pre's so I ripped all of them out and put Tung Sols in. I still had the microphonic gremlin noise. I yanked the EF86 which drives the reverb in my amp and it is silent now. I want to replace it, but keep hearing that anything that goes in will quite possibly be microphonic as well!!!

My NOS RFT is doing beautifully. I was told when I got it, to give it a full 24 hr burn with no signal running. So far, that thing sounds just amazing with no issues.... A guy off the PP forums told me that these were the most stable that he knew of.
We shall see if they can make a new one that sings. A stable version of that tube would a be gift from the gods!!

I've noticed that a lot of amps with an EF86 also put a 'tube dampener' silicon ring around it. A new Tungsol sounds like a worthy tube though, based on their reputation.
