Tung-Sol preamp tubes

anyone use these, reviews seem to say these are awsome. Looking at the 12ax7, they say it has the musical qualities of a mullard with the gain and power of a chinese made tube.

another question. i have a Genz el diablo with 3 preamp tubes. which ones do what. I still havent learned v1 v2 etc. if someon could explain and tell me why some preamps have 12at7(?) as pahse inverters (which is??) i would be grateful

This topic comes up here all the time. Pretty much everyone that uses them here that chimes in will say that they like them a whole lot. I use them and love them!!!

I can tell you that in some amps they are very much like chinese with more presence and extended highs etc

If you want presence, it's a good choice

I use them and love them...they are higher gain that almost any old school or NOS 12AX7 you will find but they have better tone IMO that any of the MIC tubes...all that said they do NOT compare to the tone of an old Mullard...

chances are the tube closest to the input jack is v1 and thats going to have the most effect on the tone and gain of the amp

cool, thats what i thought after readinf some other posts, just thought it strange that there are only 3 pre tubes

yeah 3 preamp tubes is not very many compared to the jam packed high gain amps these days! i would have figured Genz to be high gain, guess not?

no, its high gain, they use some other way to get it i guess. I know my laney has 6 but the genz matches that easy
