Tunings! What do you guys prefer?

What tunings do you guys use, and what tunings feel "right" to you? Does scale length matter to you? :D

Also, do you stick with a single tuning? Or keep various guitars in different tunings? I have a habit of tuning all my guitars the same :D

My favourite tunings are probably drop C for six strings and standard for 7 strings, but I flatten each note...so half step down? haha. :)

E standard (of course)
double drop D
drop D
F standard (on 24 inch hardtail guitars like Duo Sonics)
open G
open E
open D
open A
open B (for a few acoustic songs I've written)

on bass:

E standard (of course)
D standard (bottom four strings from a 5 string set tuned up on one of my short scale basses)
C standard (bottom strings from a 5 string set again)
drop D

Mostly E standard, for bass and guitar. But I do use those other ones, mostly for folk, country, and blues music. Most of my other tunings are done on acoustic. I use E standard, drop D, and double drop D on electric. For electric slide, I cheat and use standard tuning.

I use whatever it comes with from the store when i buy it. After a while it evolves into a microtonal scale that i use for jazz. When people say it sounds too weird, i buy a new guitar.

I personally like standard, tune down 1/2 step and Drop D, but here's a list of tunings I regularly play:

- Standard (EADGBE)
- 1/2 Step Down (D#G#C#F#A#D#)
- Whole Step Down (DGCFAD)
- Drop D (DADGBE)
- Drop C# (C#G#C#F#A#D#)
- Drop C (CGCFAD)
- Drop D# (Drop D w/ a capo on the 1st fret)
And the last tuning I set up a guitar to specifically be tuned to this with a really heavy set of strings (13, 17, 26, 36, 46, 60). It's basically a baritone tuning:
- Down a perfect fourth (BEADF#B)

Standard and Drop D, because I'm too lazy to learn how to play with anything else.

Standard. Maybe an open tuning for slide here and there, but standard tuning does plenty for me.

I've tried messing with several of them, but I mainly stick to open G and double drop D. I keep a guitar in each tuning in addition to the standard.

I do have one guitar that is tuned to drop C. On the others I tune them to E then if I want to do drop D that's easy.

+1. Anything else confuses me. I like to play fast and if I have to keep thinking "Okay now, this scale (or riff) needs to go up two frets on that string and down a fret on the other string" I get bogged down. And chords are convoluted. I don't know how guys do it. I admire anyone that can easily switch tunings.

I use Standard (mostly electric) Open D, open G, Open G minor, Dropped D and a weird Bb 9 tuning that I use occasionally.

Standard tuned to A432
A440 was instituted by josef goebbles
i don't particularly care for NAZIs

Standard 95% of the time.

Open G sometimes, especially slide playing.

Drop D is fun for certain big low riffs.

Honestly though, if I can't play it in standard tuning it probably doesn't interest me that much.
