Hi all! Just received my new Twangbanger tele-style strat pickup last week and installed it in my G&L USA Legacy. Sounds great, just what I was looking for in terms of a beefier bridge tone. BUT....
I added a mini-toggle switch to get both Neck + Bridge pickups in parallel in positions 1 and 5 (if Bridge on the pickup selector is position "1") and Neck + Middle + Bridge in positions 2 and 4. The neck and bridge pickups are stock G&L CLF-100 Alnico with RW/RP middle pickup.
Thanks to the posts on this forum and after some initial testing, I knew I had to switch the hot and ground wires and move the baseplate ground wire to fix the phasing issue.
HOWEVER, now I don't have hum-canceling in the Bridge + Middle position where I used to but DO have hum-canceling with both Neck + Bridge and Neck + Middle + Bridge positions with my toggle switch engaged. Hum canceling still works with the Neck + Middle position, stock pickups.
Now, this isn't horrible - I get hum canceling in one less position but two more.
Just wondering how I might be able to get the hum-canceling back in the Bridge + Middle position?
Would physically turning the pickup 180 degrees in the pickguard make a difference?
I can live with the setup as it is now, just wondering what the mechanics behind the new hum canceling positions are and whether I can adjust 'em.
