Twangbanger wiring for Strat

Hello All,

I want to put a Twangbanger in my Strat (bridge position) which has Fender CS69s in the neck and middle. I'm pulling it out of another Strat which also has Fender pups in the neck and middle. I did that install about 5 years ago and reversed the TB ground and hot wires per the instructions. I didn't reverse the lead on the baseplate though because the instructions didn't mention this. I never had any humming or ground problems and the TB sounded great.

I've subsequently read the baseplate ground should be reversed when the leads are reversed, so more out of curiosity before I do this, if my other guitar is working fine as is, is a baseplate ground reversal really necessary when the leads are reversed?

necessary? no obviously since its working fine as it is. if the guitar was noisy i would say flip to the ground but if you are happy with it the way it is then i wouldnt bother.

Re: Twangbanger wiring for Strat

You are correct sir. I did the install last night after switching the baseplate lead to the ground side (white wire i this case) and there is absolutely no difference. If I get another TB in the future and run in conjunction with Fender pups I will only switch the lead wires.

And I'll take the opportunity to say if you are looking for a Tele-like bridge pup in your Strat, this is the ticket. I've run a Rio Grande Stelly and to my ears the TB beats it on all fronts right down to its looks. A truly magnificent pickup for some serious twang and snarl!
