Okay!

As I promised here are the soundclips of my quite new 94 Tweed Pro Junior. I wanted this rig to capture at least a little of the vibe that the old tweed amps have. Biggest diffrence is that the PJ runs on EL84 tubes. I've tried my best by doing the following changes to the amp.

New set of tubes from Tube Amp Doctor along with a Jensen P10Q speaker. (tube descriptions are from TAD's homepage)

Power tubes | TAD EL84-Cz PREMIUM Matched Pair: The EL84-Cz is the most powerful EL84 tube we ever heard. Big tone and very dynamic. Our recommendation, when best tone is what you're looking for.

V1 | TAD 12AY7/6072A Premium Selected: Vintage Tone, original from vintage Fender Tweed Amps. The original tube for all those Fender® Tweed amps from the 50's. Brings back the original sound to your, Tweed amp.

V2 TAD 12AX7WB-R Premium Selected: Very low noise but lower gain also. Recommended to solve microphonic problems.

Here's a link to the thread with my short review written just after doing the changes. https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=85815

Well, this thread was supposed to be about soundclips. So here they are, all are recorded with the exact same mic placement. Everything is raw and unpolished, no touch ups, no effects, no nothing... just exactly what came on tape when I recorded. Unfortunaly I haven't got any better recording gear than a Chinese-made Sony 3.5mm plug mic direct into a Soundblaster Live soundcard. So the quality isn't the best and it takes away a little of the awsome tone this amp kicks out! But I hope they work as a reference to some and that you'll enjoy them anyway.

I've never owned or played a tweed amp myself only heard clips and recordings... so every thought on how it compares to the famous "tweedy" sound is welcome. For those who dont know, the HAO Sole Pressure OD/Booster is supposed to mimic the sound of a overdriven tweed amp. What I know though, is that I'm very happy with the raw, unpolised OD that this little brown box kicks out... :)

Thanks Rid! You know that is mainly the type of tones I'm shooting for so I'm diggin it ;)

Anyone else?

How close or maybe how far away from what You hold as the "tweed" sound is it? I mean there are many different tweed amps and people also have different thoughts on what the tweed sound is. Kinda subjective...

Maybe a better question would be, does it remind you of any tweed amps tone?

sounds great man...very raw...and i love the tune of the last bridge lick with the sole pressure...very good foundation for a killer song!

Thanks Hoss! :) and Rid for the bump!

Would still be great to hear some more oppinions from guys who own/have played and compared both a tweed amp (that be a clone or a original) and a PJ.
