Twin Tube Blue Distortion - 230V Power Supply

The manual says…

This is where you connect the provided wall-mounted power supply (“wall wart”) to the Twin Tube Blue. Note: it is a 16 VAC/600mA unit. Do not try to substitute a DC power supply or another AC supply with a different voltage value or current rating. If you lose your transformer or if it breaks, contact an authorized Seymour Duncan dealer for a replacement. As an alternative, for North America and Japan, you can order a 16 VAC/600mA transformer from Digi-Key (www.digikey.com). The part numbers for each common voltage is as follows:

Europe and Asia: 230 Volt/50Hz – Seymour Duncan part # 352301-230 (no known off-the-shelf replacements available)

BUT Seymour Duncan part # 352301-230 is very hard to find online or elsewhere on the internet.

Previous post from SD gave internet addresses for suppliers that do not carry this item in stock.

HELP SD - I am getting tired of lugging around a 220V >> 120V step down transformer

Re: Twin Tube Blue Distortion - 230V Power Supply

If the low-voltage plug fits the pedal, it might work. My concern is this: AC transformers like this usually aren't as well behaved as regulated DC power supplies are. If you have a transformer rated for 16V AC at 800mA, it might be putting out more voltage than that at 600mA -- maybe a lot more, maybe enough to damage the pedal.

This is due to the non-ideal behavior of real transformers. The more current they're delivering, the more voltage is being dropped across their own internal impedance and the less voltage is being delivered to the load. They're often made to put out slightly higher voltages at lower currents so that, when they're loaded down and delivering near their rated current, they're also delivering near their rated voltage. (Some unregulated DC power supplies will do something akin to this.)

Of course, if the voltage swing across those few hundreds of miliamps is pretty negligible, this concern pretty much goes out the window.

Maybe an adapter ?
