Twin Tube Classic SFX-03.. your opinions?

I've got an opportunity to pick one up for $100. I think it would be a solid addition to my rig.

What's your opinion... especially if you are a user? I've listened to some clips and it sounds fantastic...seems like a versatile tube pedal that does blues, classic and hard rock pretty well.

i have one and i like it alot. it took me a little while to dial it in to get what i want and ive found it works best into a clean amp. the rhythm channel is great, wouldnt change a thing about it. the solo channel is pretty fat which can be great but isnt the most versitle.

i have mine on my pedal board with an overdrive before it so i can have it on with either channel. with this i can get all the sounds i need. rhythm channel by itself, rhythm + od, solo by itself, solo + od, bypass, bypass + od. between those two pedals and a clean amp i can get loads of great sounding tones.

I like mine. I have not had much luck with stacking into it though.

I have one that I use now and then...I agree with jeremy: Best into a clean amp and the hot channel is a little "one note" sometimes but I have had great luck stacking stuff with it...boost pedals do well with it, OD pedals are great into the cool channel for getting ahotter more saturated sound that might have more dynamic range than the hot channel and I even like stacking fuzz boxes into it for really over the top, but in a very vintage way sounds...

Supposedly the tubes run at voltages they are designed for. Tahst awesome! In other words, it is like a old tube radio. Do NOT open the case , cause its live and high voltage! Thats so cool. Vox did a circuit design where they supposedly figure out a way to runt he tubes at plate voltages the same as hot plated tubes.
I don't know.
I was about to egt one from this POS in cabnada, but he stoled my T-Topand made off with the Twin Tube.
Lucid Lunatic made jokes about it and stuff. Birds of a feather flock together.

I love mine, and use it as the base for a lot of my sounds. Currently running it into a JTM45...:D

WTF Yourself.

From the Twin Tube Manual;

Hazardous voltages are present. For your protection, and to reduce the risk
of electric shock and danger to personal health, please observe the following
safety precautions when setting up and using your Twin Tube Classic. Most of
this is common sense, but please read it anyway.
Your Twin Tube Classic is designed to work with typical power systems utilizing
a three-prong outlet. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not plug your
Twin Tube Classic into any other type of power system. Contact your facilities
manager or a qualified electrician if you are not sure what type of power is
supplied to your building or performance stage. Do not use your Twin Tube
Classic with amplifiers or other gear that has two prong AC plugs. Do not
overload wall outlets, extension cords, or multiple power strips as this can result
in a risk of fire or electric shock.
Never open the chassis. Do not attempt to tamper with or service your Twin Tube
Classic yourself. Youʼre just asking for trouble. Opening or removing the cover
may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards, which could result
in serious injury or death – not to mention damage to the Twin Tube Classic.
Wouldnʼt that suck? Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Do not block or cover the side vents on your Twin Tube Classic. Never push
objects of any kind through openings in the equipment. No drummer jokes,
please. Dangerous voltages may be present. Conductive foreign objects could
produce a short circuit that could cause fire, electric shock, or damage to your
Twin Tube Classic.
Never place a Twin Tube Classic near a radiator or heat register. Failure to
follow these guidelines can cause overheating and affect the reliability of your
Twin Tube Classic.
Unplug your Twin Tube Classic from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use
liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Do not use your Twin Tube Classic near water - for example, near a bathtub,
washbowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement; near a swimming
pool; on stage with water effects or precipitation; and the like. Do not expose
the Twin Tube Classic to dripping or splashing liquids and do not place objects
filled with liquid on or near your Twin Tube Classic (yes, unfortunately, this
includes bottled malt beverage liquids). And for heaven sakes, donʼt use it while
youʼre sitting on the can... OK, enough of that.

Sitting on the can? Twin Tube Loo Lube?

Seriously, it seems like a cool OD. Might be what I need through the clean channel of my Fender red knob...

Re: Twin Tube Classic SFX-03.. your opinions?

love mine
like jeremy and others have said, it works great in front of a clean amp - i use it in front of my BJr and set the BJr for max clean headroom and let the pedals do the dirt ...
i too stack it ... i have a zendrive in front of it and also an sfx01 in front of the whole chain... lotsa versatility
been incredibly reliable too

not leaving my board

good luck

Re: Twin Tube Classic SFX-03.. your opinions?

It's the Best pedal I own ! I don't think of it as a pedal,But more as a out board Preamp. For $100 I'd buy a 2nd one! Well worth it. :D

Re: Twin Tube Classic SFX-03.. your opinions?

Absolutely its a great pedal. Channel is fantastic and can run from clean to a great OD. The 2nd channel isnt as versatile but is sweet, syrupy, over saturated sustain monster. Definitely a fun one.
