Twin Tube SFX-03 Question

I've been watching the Guitar World Youtube review of this about 5 times a day, comparing it to pedals like the Damage Control Womanizer or Demonizer.

I currently have a Peavey Supreme Transtube solidstate amp head running a modified 2 X 12 Crate combo amp just set up as a cabinet. The gain channel of the Peavey sucks big time, but I got it cheap locally off Craigslist. I have a Boss Metalzone pedal, and with delay and chorus, I like the heavy stuff with that combo, Vai, later Van Halen, 80's hair bands...

I play a lot of variety from jazz, blues, classic rock, and hard rock. I was into metal more when I was younger, but I still like the sounds from my above combo for hard stuff. By the way, I don't currently jam with anyone, but I'm really wanting to get back to that, thus the need for more of a variety of tones.

Now to the question. Do you think for the money, that the Seymour Duncan Twin Tube pedal would cover my need for some nice jazz and blues overdrive, as well as harder blues and rock tones? I'd like to nail down some Satriani stuff as well.

Also, I was planning on trying to use it as a lead boost for the Metal Zone, kinda like a Tube Screamer or Boss Overdrive would function.

I love mine, and I can get different tones all over the place, anywhere from nice warm cleans to heavier metal stuff. I have it running into a blues jr so im not sure how it would sound through a solid state. A tube screamer really adds to the leads, as for jazz and blues it can pull both off nicely but I dont play them as often as the heavy stuff.

The clips are fairly true on the SD website. I think you can get a little bit dirtier than the clips do, though. Linky

I like the TTC. There's quite a bit of tonal variety in it (the Tubescreamer is really a one-trick pony--albeit a GOOD one. It does its one trick quite well).

Metal? Depends.

Blues, jazz, classic rock, etc: no problem.

Sweet. My mind was pretty much made up, I just wanted another couple of opinions on the pedal. I can always also pick up a used SD-3, Blues Driver or Tube Screamer if I want an extra lead boost.

what kind of 'jazz' do you have in mind that you need an overdrive?

It will do most of what you ask, I do not know about hte artist names as I do not really know his stuff well enough to say. At least for me. I would see it as more of a tube preamp than a pedal though, adding gain stages and voicing. AS such I wold use the Metal Zone to drive it and not the other way around myself. I use a TS style pedals for what I do with the SFX-03 and like the results.
