Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

crusty philtrum

Vintageologist
Two weeks ago I got an El Capistan delay pedal. That night i plugged my 69 Strat relic (BKP Irish Tour pickups) into it, took the stereo outputs into an M-Box and into the computer ... no tubes, amp, speakers or mics. I was just fooling around. I fell asleep in the wee small hours of the morning in my chair, woke up with the Strat on my lap, hit record and played with my eyes barely open and got this.

It's not really anything cohesive and certainly not well-played, and not something i really want to be judged on. However, in some small ways it captures something about me at that fragile little moment, so here it is.

(at the very least it's a test to see if i could successfully set up what was required to be able to post something, hehe)

I like it a lot. There are a few moments that gave me that hush hush shivers feeling. Some good changes in there I thought....

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

I really enjoyed that, Neil. Tons of character, especially considering such a Spartan signal path. Those Bare Knuckles are picking up every nuance in your hands. Great to finally hear you play. The years of experience are evident, even in random noodling. I look forward to hearing more.

Cheers........................................ Geoff.

i had no idea you are such a lovely player. i should have known by all of the attention and detail that you put into your Les Paul.

absolutely wonderful.

still the man.

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

Sounds good man! I've been wondering about those el capistan's for awhile.

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

Yeah... that was very sweetly played! The years of experience does show, like someone said up there...

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

Very cool man, definitely very Hendrix-y at times too!
I just wanna play that strat again haha, love that guitar

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

I listened to this the other day, very impressive. There was this guy Hendrix, well he's gone now but check him out you guys play a lot a like. ;)

Re: Two Fragile Minutes With Crusty

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, i had been hesitant to post this because it's more 'soundscape' than 'guitar demo' or 'song', and i suppose it's a much more personal little area i like to dwell in sometimes when not having to be inside a musical structure. The standards around here and in the wider guitar world are so high that sometimes it seems like the effect of just a couple of notes or a chord get lost or forgotten, so it's nice to know that it can still have this kind of effect ....

There are a few moments that gave me that hush hush shivers feeling.

I forgot to mention that there was no software processing at all apart from converting the wav. file to mp3. Nowhere to hide, hehehe. I'm glad you guys are able to find something enjoyable in it. :)

Sweet textures!

The last ten or fifteen seconds completely sealed the deal. I wanted more ... much more.
