Uh oh... look what I did

Might have gone too far this time. We just put up a new tune on the MySpace..

Should be the first track, titled "Skelerang".

Some fun dual-guitar stuff in this one. Here I thought I'd written a real guitarstravaganza and our **** drummer upstaged me again. Oh well, my ego should recover eventually.

Comments, critiques, stroking and derision all welcome (because I love to talk about myself).

Thanks for listening!

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

Tight sound man. What was your rig going there? Who was playing what kind of guitar and pickup for the single noe riff after the dual intro? If that makes sense?

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

Thanks! Every guitar track on the song was done with my ES-137 Classic using the stock pickups.

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

I love you.

Edit: your band is pretty good too.

Verra nice guitar tone. I always think the best attack comes from a semi-hollow. What amp/pedals are you using? I've got an Epi Dot studio with(supposedly) similar pickups. It'd be nice to know how you got that sound.

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

Great job on that. Nice tight sound and I liked the rhythm quite a bit. For some reason about the middle of the song the volume went lower and then returned. Maybe it's just my broadband connection. I think it would be cool if you threw some arpeggios in the harmony lines. I would be real surprised if you were not using a tube amp because the tone was good.

:D

PODxt, with my Marshall and Uber patches, designed to sound as close to the Splawn and Uber I use in "real life." I think the Marshall patch is on the left side, and the Uber patch is on the right, but I'm not sure at the moment. I think there are a couple of Orange patches used in the verses on this one, too.

The volume shouldn't drop in the middle so I'm guess it's MySpace's wonderfully horrendous player screwing up or something.

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

Cool. I nearly always end up like the POD's heavy sounds when recorded. It translates quite well.

As an island, yes. I don't blame you for not hearing the PODness in those tracks... High gain is less likely to betray the POD's inability to do that mild break-up kind of thing. I haven't had much success blending POD and real recorded amp tones, though. For some reason in those situations the modeler stands out pretty easily as a shallow impostor.

I agree. I also think that heavy tones are harder to record. The PODness works for you there- it's got a tight gritty sound you just don't get easily mic'ing a tube amp. Mind you, I prefer the juicy richness of tubes but the POD sure is a nice shortcut.

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

wow man, that's some tight stuff! great sound and some crazy POD tone! who woulda thought?!

what're you using to record the drums, is it a live mic'd kit? and what did you use to mix it all down?

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

The drums are Toontrack DFH Superior triggered by our drummer on a nice little V-drum kit.

Everything was tracked and mixed in Adobe Audition, mastered (to the best of my ability) using Izotope Ozone 3.

WoW man...that is soooo sweet!

I am impressed. I would never have guessed that was a POD. Maybe my sinuses haven't cleared up yet because my ears can usually detect the POD tone. You really dialed that thing in well. Great job.

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

Very tight and creative Adam...you guys get better and better every song!I think the sound is a tad dark....Maybe "widen" it on izotope could help!

I dig the Harmonies alot...

Re: Uh oh... look what I did

That sounds great. So extremely heavy. Most people would never expect a semi hollow to get a tone anything like that.
