Unbalanced sound?

I have a problem with the output I'm getting when I play.

Basically certain notes/pitches come out really loud and strong and others are faint and quiet. If I pick a single string up the guitar I'll get nice strong booming notes to a point but then they fade out and sometimes at certain pitches it's like I never hit the string.

I've tried playing with the gain/treble/Mid/Bass but I can't seem to get a balanced sound no matter what I do - what can I do to fix it?? :banghead:

I'm playing an Ibanez RG1570L through a Marshall MG250DFX with no pedals and the DFX/Reverb switched off (it's the same problem when it's switched on though).

Cheers.

Re: Unbalanced sound?

Is the output different for each stg. If so, check the pole pieces of the pickups.

Re: Unbalanced sound?

No, it's right across the guitar - I'm playing away and it will just drop notes of certain pitches. Most high notes are fine, all bass notes are fine, but there are a few notes which just don't come out. The amp is new so I don't think it's that. Do I need an equaliser of some kind?

Re: Unbalanced sound?

you could try a compressor.

do you have a really low action? i had that problem with my RG except it was fret buzz. i raised the action a bit and it went apart from one really worn fret

Re: Unbalanced sound?

I lowered the action as low as possible :smack: I'll try jacking it up a little and see if that helps (my low E string does buzz but the problem is mainly on the higher strings)
