Definitely an issue with the saddles being crooked, as others have said before me. And I hate to he nitpicky, but a lot of people lose their heads if you number the strings incorrectly, the high e is #1. I think the reason behind that is most likely because any added strings are on the bass side. I don't particularly care what you call them as long as we understand what you are saying.
Also, as a way to save money, learn how to change strings. Here's a good video on the subject:
This guy says clip the string before winding, but what you can do if you don't have wire cutters is wind the string as normal, but once you are done you can wiggle the ~6 inches of excess string until it breaks off.
Did you adjusted the screws? Those are for setting the intonation so it'll play in tune across the neck. They probably set it up in shop, which is why saddles were left crooked.
Hook it in tuner and check it's in tune. Then check it plays in tune on 12th fret and possibly elsewhere in the neck. If it doesn't adjust the screws accordingly.
