Unexpected New Guitar Day!

I need to learn to stay the heck off of Facebook Marketplace!!!

This popped up, literally 5 miles away from my house. (2 miles as the crow flies)

I talked the guy down a little bit and I just couldn't not get it! I Wanted to know how the Fishmans sound!

I'll be doing some pickup comparisons in the near future.

This thing took a bit of loving and adjusting and so far, I think it's siiiick!

Well first rehearsal with it just finished.
Overall I love it.
Fit and playability are outstanding.
Lead tones are really really good.
Chunky chords can be a little tiny squishy.
I will adjust when I get home.
So far I'm really pleased.

I like how it gives off shiny fancy Custom vibes while at the same time being fairly stripped down.

That is a great buy.
These are good. I played the purple version ( borrowed for a weekend ) a couple of years ago. I would've bought it if it was for sale.

What are those Fishmans like?

I remember reading they're based on Gibson pickups, so they're not just rebranded Classics or Moderns.

I'm liking them so far, but they are still new to my ears. (I've got 2 hours on them now )

The Epiphone Fishmans so I've learned so far (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) are proprietary, so they are similar to classics and similar to moderns, but they are their own voicing...

They have 3 voicings, a Gibson paf, a modern, and humless single coil, all activated by push-pull pots. I use the modern, because I don't like the other 2 voices /settings whatsoever.

When comparing them to passives, these are a bit hissy, they have a smoother bottom end, and clarity string for string is much better.
You strum a chord even at my gain levels and can still hear each string pretty distinctly.
They have a pleasant voice, for what I play anyhow.
I hear a pretty good copy of Evanescence tone (here in the garage) just as an initial thought.
I think they sing for leads, they interact with my noise gates a bit differently than I'm used to.

Compared to the Blackout EMTY pups, these don't have the low and mid BAWLS that the EMTY has
They have pleasant harmonics, but they aren't as strong as with the EMTY. These will feedback barely, in a good way.

There's a dynamic kind of sponginess to their tones that I can't wrap my ears around just yet, but it's a good thing I think.
I can hear myself using this guitar for leads when I record my next set of songs. Using the other explorers for the tight, dry chonk chords.

Don't have time to listen to the clips right now, but wanted to say, I think that is the most gorgeous Explorer I have ever seen. It's almost like they were always meant to have those block inlays and those fishman pickups

Agree boys, it's beautiful. And it plays so well! This neck may be the smoothest neck of all my guitars. Effortless glide.
It's a toss up with my Dean Select ML neck. Some kind of satin smoothness to them both.
