Uni-vibe Noodling

I was noodling around today with my KR Megavibe (Uni-Vibe clone) into my Ulbrick Firebottle 5, so I hit record to share some of it with my forum bros. I was just enjoying the tone so I've left in a few clunkers to keep it real!

Re: Uni-vibe Noodling

That's a great sound, loved the picking and chord progression. Did Glmour use one of those? The sound reminds me of PF a bit.

This sound really seemed to ask for the finger picking..luckily there was a pick handy for that last reverse rake across the strings!

I'm pretty sure that Mr Gilmour used a Univibe on some things, and at least half of that progression is very PF in nature.

Man....sea of nice tones....buddy of mine has one of these as well....sounds great!

I knew it would be something you would appreciate, Niels. There's something particularly rich about Kevin Randall's take on the Univibe. And it's a whole other beast with some overdrive and fuzz around it.

Re: Uni-vibe Noodling

Very sweet indeed Geoff. It's great when you just find a tone you can sit on for ages. It doesn't happen to me very often! :D

Re: Uni-vibe Noodling

it should remind of Pink Floyd - he starts out doing Breathe (sort of) for a bit and then melds it with Rush's The Trees hehehe ;)

Re: Uni-vibe Noodling

Very nice.

Reminds me of late 70s Trower...I keep wanting for James Dewar to come in.

That really sounds great Geoff!

Was that all the univibe or was I hearing a little delay and possibly reverb mixed in?

Actually, I was thinking more 'Dear Prudence' for the second half of the progression. I can't stand listening to Rush because of Geddy Lee's vocal so I don't know that song...maybe they borrowed it from The Beatles too!

If only...what a great singer James Dewar was. He would have come in with something that left a scar for sure.

And there's definitely a "Bridge of Sighs" reference in the B chord that connects the two sections!

Well your ears are working just fine my friend! Just a hint of tape delay and just enough plate reverb to take it out of my living room. Both just plugins in Logic Pro 9.

Thanks to all for taking the time to listen and comment.

Well there ya go! I heard the progression @ 45 secs. Never heard that song before. But I have heard Dear Prudence! No doubt so have Rush!

Re: Uni-vibe Noodling

That sounds great. I could dork around with one of those for hours.
