untapping a tapped tele bridge pickup

hello, can anyone tell me how to make a tapped "hot for tele" bridge pickup
a regular single coil untapped pickup?(3 wires, red, white and black)..

Re: untapping a tapped tele bridge pickup

Simple, just don't use the tap lead. The little sheet that comes in the pickup box should tell you which is which.

If you lost the sheet it's still easy enough to figure it out with a multimeter. Put one probe from the meter on the ground lead and the other to each of the two hot leads and the hot lead with the highest reading is the untapped lead.

If this is the "Hot Tele Lead" you're talking about, the main lead should read somewhere around 15.5k ohms. The tap lead should read about 7.5k.

Yup . . . what Zhangliqun said. The red lead is the one to leave disconnected.
