Unusual Session job.

Chickenwings

Alnico 6/8
I was asked to play on this album:

My job was to reverse engineer the songwriters parts and play them back note for note on a nylon string in the studio.
It took a lot of focus to work out his unusual chord voicings, rhythmic patterns and some alternate tunings, write them out and then play them.
I'm really happy with the end result tho. The songs are subtle and thoughtful. A great experience and an enjoyable record to listen to.

Sounds cool. But truth in advertising showing him with the guitar? :)

I had to do a gig like that once for a female singer/songwriter. She was good, but her hands would play inconsistent and go off tempo while she sang, so I shadowed/replaced her parts to keep them on the metronome.

He did write all those songs on the guitar. All the parts i played were originally written and played by him. The producer just wanted them tidied up and a bit more consistent for the purpose of releasing an album.

Re: Unusual Session job.

Why not just get the guy to redo his parts without the singing along at the same time? I mean, congrats on the gig, but I would've had to call the guy and say "get your sorry *** back in this studio and fix this slop"
