Update: Daphne Blue Phat-Strat with INF pickups

ehdwuld

A Ficus
ok
ya'll might remember the Daphne blue strat
that I put the INF pickups in

heres an update:
I got cold feet on the roller nut exchange, but....

finally rolled the magnet in the neck pickup
phase problems went away

dropped the wiring out under the pickguard to make pickup tests easier

pics are a bit dark, sorry

here you can see the white is the humbucker start for the INF3 neck
the fat red is the wire from the neck pickup
the blacks are ground leads
and the unattached red wire in all photos is the coil tap from the INF3

here full unmodified pickup
(you can see the resistor dangling from the ground
100_0201.jpg

and a shot with the meter on it showing 12k wind
100_0202.jpg

now here you can see when I connected the resistor
how the reading across the coils changed (20k resistor from radio shack)

and here is a close up albeit a bit dark
100_0205.jpg

I'll try to get some clips up this week

but right now the lower resistance seems to have softened the pickup a bit
it still is loud but some of the mush is gone

I didnt "Air" the pickup out as I had planned
the "slugg" poles ? the slightly smaller hex poles on the top of the INF
started to fall out
just sloppin round in there

my guess the wax that was holding them in place finally came loose

i supose I will have to warm em up to get the wax reseat em
I dunno
