Well I wired up my ibanez s470 with a jazz neck, jb jr middle, and dimebucker bridge. Got everything wired up correctly and working. No hums or scratchiness. My worries were these cause this is the first time i have rewired a guitar. Only took about two hours. My concerns are the pickup height for each of these. Any have any recommendations. and what capacitors would you use. I have a single tone single volume and i used a .047 cap. can anyone tell me a little on the different values and differences in tone can come about by using different caps.

Re: update on wiring!! Advice on pickup height

adjust the pickup height while holding down the highest fret i.e. 22 or 24 or whatever the highest pitch note is. Do it for each string so that you know that the pickup isnt touching the strings which will make it make weird noises and obviously isnt good. Other than that just adjust them to what sounds best to you. try them low try them high listen to how each sounds and find the right mix between the two.

As for caps, lower valued caps will be brighter, where as higher ones will be more bassey as they cut more of the high frequencies. In LP's they usually use .022 caps to make the humbuckers brighter. .047 for strats and single coils usually. But you are not limited to these settings you can experiment with many values. Also caps dont effect your sound when the tone pot is on 10 the caps only come into the circuit when the knob is turned down.
