Upgrade from a Line6 Spider III (or IV) 30w? Amplifi or others?

So I got this amp with a cheap guitar a few years back, it's kind of hissy/crackle now so I'm thinking of replacing it with a better amp.

However I don't necessarily need a bigger amp, and I was looking at Line6 Amplifi series as an alternative; needs headphones and play through though as I mainly practise in my apartment.

Signal Train:
Guitar (electric/semi-hollow/acoustic) --> AMP
Guitar (per above) --> Boss ME-80 Effects --> AMP

Thoughts?

Budget is about $500 unless someone tells me that's way to low.

It's been talked about by many, including myself. The Boss Katana series are good amps. They are 50, 100 watt combos and also a 100watt head with a built in practice speaker. Also earphone jack they also can be dialed down in watts, I can't remember the values.
I have the head on order, I played both combos. They are pretty versatile and come with some decent effects built in with more that can be downloaded. Foot switch is extra.
Don't know where you live but 500 should cover it.
Google em.

Check out the Bugera line! A lot of amp for the money. I have the G5 infinium for practice. Has a headphone output and has 3 power settings: 5w,1&.5w. Great little amp. I believe Sweetwater has them on sale now. Good luck.

Peace,

Darrin

Peavey VIP series or Vyper amps
they are modelers
sound good at low volumes
headphones

also think about the Digitech RP Series Modeling pedals
they also have headphone outs
as well as drum loops and
recording options

Thank you guys for the suggestions. Doing some reading and it sounds like I should find myself an amp-head (ex Boss Katana or similar) then worry about the cabinate later?

I’ll check out my local guitar store and try them out the next chance I get (Likely Thursday or Friday).

That is one reason I went with the Katana head. Good at low level with headphones or even through the built in speaker then pow sonic power when you feel like getting a cabinet.

Katanas are good if you want a little of everything, I really like the orange crush series, fantastic amps based off of my all time fav, the rockerverb. The fender mustangs are also really good little puppies. Bugera makes some ok stuff, but i'm skeptical about it, probably just me though. Jet city is also really a good one to check out.

Not big into heavy metal, more an alternative or folk rock although I do love old-school rock and roll. Thus why I was think Boss Katana, good at most things. Still need to test it out but I'm thinking wait for the guitar.

Looking for some modeling amps is better if you want to play different styles of music.
I suggest Peavey Vypyr VIP. The 100W version is under $500. I used the 20 version for practicing in my bedroom and it sounds good.
Boss Katana is ok too but i don't like high gain amps model of this amp.
You can check VOX VTX20. I think it's good for alternative and old-school rock.
