Upgrading stock pickups on my Pacifica 112

Hi ! :newbie:

I own my Pacifica 112 since three years, and i'm currently upgrading it. I've already change the bridge, the nut, and the tuning machines.

Now, I'm looking to change my pickups. I like to play rock : Muse, U2, Bowie, Led Zep, Green Day, SOAD, and stuffs like that. So, as you probably understood, I'm looking for something really versatile. :18:

For the bridge pickup, I think I'll take a SH4, and for the neck, I'm thinking about a SSL1. But for the intermediate pickup, I'm really lost. I'd like something more dirty than the ssl1, but less than the SH4. Do you have any ideas ? :33:

Thank you

PS : I'm french so try to excuse me for my english, I did my best :knockedou

I'd keep it all hum-cancelling if you like effects like the Edge. Classic Stack Strat Plus for the neck & middle, and for the bridge, go for a Custom which will have power...and you can split it for some quack.

For versatility, the jb in the bridge probably. If you want something more tight, than the custom. Middle probably classic stack and neck id go cool rails cause theyre pretty chilled out no pun intended

Thanks for all your replies !!

I think that for the bridge, I'll go with the SH4. It sounds really well to my hears, and to my wallet :18:

Then for the middle and neck pickups I'll follow your advices and I'll take them hum-canceling : the STK series. To answer to elelpe, what are the differences between the STK S4 and the STK S7 ?

The S4 is the traditional sounding one..this is the one I like. Like a great Strat pickup, but quiet. The S7 is the warmer, hotter version of the same pickup. If you like chime, go with the S4. If you like a sweeter sound with more output, go with the S7. Or, go with an S4 in the neck, and an S7 in the middle for a very versatile Yamaha.

What he said. I like a bit smokey neck sound myself. Hence STK-S7

Ok thank you for your replies.

I've just one more question : I understood that the stk series are not simples singles coils, but does it sound like single coils, with the dynamic and the range of a true single coil ?

I think they do. There are purists who don't like any stacks. But I really like them- even prefer them. They really get all the things I love about singles except the hum.
