Using multiple amps

I'm having tone psychosis and I hope someone can help. I use a Mesa F-30 on stage and I rehearse with a Blues junior . I love the way the Boogie sounds but. it lacks a little warmth. I have tried to use both amps together by coming out of my boss delay using both outputs but I don't think that the signal is strong enuogh to drive the amps properly. I also tried coming out of the recording out jack of the Boogie into the Fender but it overdrives the amp with too hot of a signal. I could sure use some info guys, I know some of you are using multiple amp setups and could enlighten me. Thanks.....Joe

I tried setting up 2 amps with an A/B switch for years and got tired of the extra noise...(ground loop hum). You can get rid of the extra noise by taking the ground off one of the amps plugs but this adds a bit of danger and i feel a wrong road to go down. I can't remember the name of the company but they make something called a Tone Bone? anyways they now make an a/b box that lifts the ground noise and you can feel safe with the ground still connected to the power source of each amp. This may help you.

For myself 1 amp was not enough. I went with an HS2 Headswitcher from www.axess-electronics.com for switching 2 heads, but only one can be used at a time. When it is set up it is killer. But from what i read of your original post it sounds like you just may need a new amp..... one that makes you 100% happy... Boogies to me are odd beasts... The longer they are on and played thru the better they start to sound! I have always found it starange that they feel so cold and lifeless when you first start to play thru them and a 20 minutes later they start to sustain more and warm up!

I'll let let you know. It may be a while my band just bought new subs & programmable crossover & my funds are weak.

I have the Radial Engineering Tonebone JX-2 Switchbone (say that 5 times fast). It works as advertised. Although it's not cheap, you get your money's worth with hum-free, apparently safe, and versatile ABY functionality. It has been very interesting to hear the tone when blending different amps.

Hey my fellow viking Stringmachine: how much did you pay for you tonebone switcher and where did you buy it? I'm looking for one so that i can run my Peavey + 2x12" setup along with my Marshall 5010 ;).

There is a polarity switch as well as a ground lift switch on the Switchbone. There is also switch that allows you to mute the signal to a tuner output or boost the signal in a couple of ways. Since I have other boost pedals, I use it to mute the signal while switching guitars and to get the tuner out of the signal path (not a big deal, but can't hurt).

Got mine used from a guy who works at Vedvik Musikk in Tønsberg. Cost me kr. 1.000.-

Avoid? I CREATE them :)

I use a simple Rocktron Tsunami chorus pedal for feeding both halfstacks. 90% of the time I use the ambient delay mode that creates a tiny yet mean difference between the two counter-phase outputs. The outcome is some extremely thick & rich sound, think 2 extremely accurate rhythm guitarists playing along the same riff. 10-tons hammer case :smoker:

Never, ever had a problem with ground loop buzz or signal loss. The juicy DC output of the Invader cuts through everything and anythig to kick the mouth of the amps hard :)
