Using PGn...need less bass...help!

Right now I'm using the PGn in my Ash Strat. I like to switch between it and the FSb b/c they're so different sound wise, it's like having 2 different guitars almost. Anyhow, set up the way I have it, with the FS sounding great, the PGn has too much bass. Is there another neck pickup that anyone would recommend to replace it? Obviously, eq'ing isn't really an option b/c I've got the settings for the FS 'just right'.

Oh yeah, I also just won a JB on e-bay (JB number 3 baby!! :32: ) ...maybe it would work better with the PGn in terms of the eq?

Thanks!

The JB might work better...the JB is an alnico 5 pickup with strong output and plenty of bass and mids. That should allow you to turn the bass down a little on your amp which will help clear up the PGn.

In the meantime, you might lower the neck pickup 1/8" and then raise the polepieces under the D & G strings 1/8" and adjust the others so they form an arch that matches the arch of your fingerboard. That should help.

Everything Lew said is right on. :D

In addition, you may want to try the Jazz neck. It has less bass than the PG and a bit more high end clarity.

too much bass from a pg? thats not usually a concern but i can see why it might be with the fs. id lower the pup like lew said and use the pole pieces to adjust the volume
