V-Picks – Thoughts?

Re: V-Picks – Thoughts?

Trey sent me one,I'm "assuming" it's the Diamond,as well as one of his Vinyl ones...

Pretty neat, but I'm so used to JIIIs that everything else feels like I'm holding a matchbook.May work better for me on Bass.

Def "fast" & the Vinyl one has a really organic tone.

Thanx Trey!

Most welcome man! That one was an older one given to me, I believe it's the Large Pointed.

The Vinyl Record picks are my absolute favorite.

Have any of you guys tried the obscenely thick ones, like 4mm?

I have the Diamond which is 4.1mm thick. Not a fan of the thickness of it BUT it has a nice feel and is definitely a "fast" pick, great for sweeping arpeggios IMO.

I listened to Vinnie on Amps & Axes today, and he made a compelling argument for that thicknes. Basically, your hand is more relaxed when not pinching something really thin. He also said the Ghost Rim option kills the chirp, so I'm gonna rough up the edge of my Freakishly Large Round and see how it goes.

I have a couple of them. I like them, but I like my stainless picks a little better.

Forgot to take pics last night, but I just got in two more that I ordered–the Mummy and Dimension Jr. Ghost Rim...the Ghost Rim is the only way I will go going forward. No chirp at all, unique feel and just a very cool pick.

Just got mine in the mail yesterday, my favorite pick by V-Pick and second only to my Vinyl Record Picks.

I've never tried the V-Picks. BUT, I do like that vinyl pick, Trey. It's the best feel of any so far. Thumbs-up!

First.. I cant imagine playing with one of those super fat picks like that. I DO understand about the relaxed grip and all,but one that fat seems like it would have its own difficulties. Not to mention, seems like you would have to hold it almost perpendicular..

Ironically... I got my Dean Soltero out last night after about 2 weeks of using something else. Well my V and gravity picks were in the case. So, gave em a whirl.. funny.. I never used to be able to strum very well with the real pointy ones, like the stiletto..not even.. would be boomy on some strings. I was absolutely LOVING the Stiletto last night! playing fast, strumming even.. Just out of the blue..

My guitar has a couple that he loves. I've used sharp Tortex for about a year now, and I'd be surprised if I found anything that suits me as much.

I'm really digging the Mummy pick, feels great in the hand and easy to control. It's not huge like the other ones.

The Johnny Hiland model, which is similar to the Mummy, is in my cart. I'm getting a Large Pointed Lite, also, because Jimmy Herring uses them.

(Everyone commence to pointing out how these picks won't make me play like Johnny or Jimmy)

Re: V-Picks – Thoughts?

My cousin got me into them a few months ago when he gave me a Tradition Lite. I took it home and immediately loved the feel and the sound. I ordered a 4 pack and haven't looked back. My tortex picks went into the closet, probably for good.

Re: V-Picks – Thoughts?

I bought several and played them for a while. Nice grip and I liked what I think was around 2.5 mm or so, but I also noticed a chirp. I moved on to Blue Chips. I use those and, at a much lower cost, Ultex and Primetones. I like to be at around 1.5mm, for the most part.
