Versatile Fat strat set?

Hi guys!

My buddy picked up a Fender Texas Special with Pearly Gates bridge and Fender Texas Specials in the middle and neck. I love how the Pearley can still handle the heavy rock while it sounds like a great single coil in split mode when used with the middle pickup. I was wondering if this is a good way to go but with what Duncan singles? How about the new stacks?

Thanks all!

Re: Versatile Fat strat set?

I don't see why not. the only problem is that the PG+ like the one in your buddy's strat can only be bought from Fender and only in white.

The PG+ sits somewhere in between the PG and the 59 in terms of tone and construction, so I would go with either of those two pickups.

Personally, I'm still hankering for a strat with SSL-1's or -2's in the neck and mid and a 59 in the bridge.
