Very loud middle pickup in HSH config

Hi, i have wired up my strat following a wiring diagram. However, the single coil pickup in the HSH configuration is much louder than the humbuckers (nearly twice as loud I would estimate) no diiference is made to the sound by altering the height of the pickups.

Any ideas what is wrong? Would be very grateful for a solution!

Thanks Mk

If you could post a picture of your work it might help us ascertain what your problem is?

Hopecthese photos help. Realise that one of the pickup wires has come adrift from the switch and needs resoldering. This had not nothing to do with the problem though, all three pickups worked ok, butbthe middle single coil was verybloud compared tonthe humbuckers. Thanks again for any advice!

Also...... All three pickups had three wires, two wires were earthed together (red and bare wires)!and earthed on the vol pot, the other wire I wired to the pickup position on the switch. I did the same thing for all three pickups. It is for 2 tone and 1 vol pot configuration.

The only thing different is that I have 250 pots not 500k as in thecdiagram..

Re: Very loud middle pickup in HSH config

All I can think of is that you actually have 2 pickups engaged when you think you've only got the s/c.
Or the humbuckers are wired for split inadvertantly.

Unless your middle is an absolutely hot monster, there is no way that it by itself should overpower a regular humbucker.

Make sure to tap on the top of the coils in each switch position to see exactly what is on at that position. Those types of switches always confuse me, but I am easily confused.
