very low drop tuning questions

well after a little fooling around a couple of days ago i made a startling discovery. for some reason i'm liking a tuning that could best be described as drop G D standerd, or D standerd with the bass-D string dropped to G. since i only have one guitar its probably going to be tuned back up to D eventually but once i start getting more gear i might just have a guitar with this tuning. so my question is, if i were to get a guitar specifically for this tuning, should i get a baritone or will a normal scale do, what kind of strings should i get, and whould this cause a nightmare reguarding proper inotation?
thanks

Re: very low drop tuning questions

I'd put a 7 string set on, but use the 7th string as the 6th.

Dropping to a low G? I'd definitely look into baritone scales for that.

A 64 guage on 25.5" scale is only tight enough for a B for my liking... and I play 10-46 in standard.
