VH Paf vs. EVH vs. VHII

Re: VH Paf vs. EVH vs. VHII

Anybody? Anybody?

I think you should all chip in and buy me all three so I can do a proper comparison.

Re: VH Paf vs. EVH vs. VHII

VHPaf is a great pup, A5 magnet has great lower mids which give it some growl in the lows. It can have some teeth in the high end so a 250k volume should be used (in a strat). The 3D sound is strange and bothers some folks. I recently took one of my VHPafs and had the magnet swapped for an A2. It kepted the brightness and added some more mids to the pup. While not exactly a 78, it was better than shelling out $160.00 for one at the custom shop. (in other words it will get you in the ball park of the 78).

Re: VH Paf vs. EVH vs. VHII

any way to de virtualize it? remove that 3D crap?

i mean i hated the virtual PAF in my agile and went back to the AC...

it just sounds too hifi and look at my damn name on here:laughing:

it seems to be the prefect wind for me and it has the airbucker effect which I truthfully like alot...warms it down without killing it like some A2 mags can do with a post 8.5k wind...

to bad its got that virtual BS...

Re: VH Paf vs. EVH vs. VHII

+1 on Alnico 2 magnet.

I don't agree with you concerning the Virtual Vintage technology. I like the sound of my VV pickups a lot.
IMHO VV technology is not removable. you MAY try to pull out the iron slugs that are between the allen screws with pliers but there is a possibility to damage the pickup.

My advice to the guy that started the thread: if you have $$$, go for an EVH or VHII, if you are on a budget, but a VHPAF and change the magnet to A2. That simple.
