VHPAF without "3D" sound?

Re: VHPAF without "3D" sound?

Wouldn't that be the regular Dimarzio PAF??

The Duncan 59' PAF and Seth Lover PAF are very different from the VPAF.

Re: VHPAF without "3D" sound?

He said VHPAF (Virtual HOT PAF), not VPAF.

They don't make a non "virtual" version of the "Hot PAF".

Your closest bet from the DiMarzio lineup is probably the Air Classic, which would be a "non-3D" version of the Virtual PAF.

Re: VHPAF without "3D" sound?

I think the 59 will give you what your looking for. Gibson 57 Classics have the 3D in full effect, But the 59 is solid sounding.

Re: VHPAF without "3D" sound?

The 3D is something in only have heard with the virtual vintage pickups. Sounds like a slight flanging or chorusing sound built in.
I would put the Gibson Classic 57+ or the Duncan 78 model into the same league as the VHPAF but without the 3D thing.
BTW i made my own overwound PAF with buying a used double cream DiMarzio PAF and let the stud coil wound on the 5 to 5.5k by a winder. Zhang would surely do it for you!

You've just gave me massive gas for a VHOTPAF... Isn't a slight chorusing a huge part of van halen's later tone?

That is exactly the sound I hear.

I may have to look at the 59, Duncan 78 or a Dimarzio PAF (though it won't be as "hot" sounding).
I didn't get along with the Demon.
