Video Demo: Built a Gold Pearl Sparkly Telecaster

ImmortalSix

John Mayer's Mankini
Hey everybody, me again - this time I put together a bass-boat sparkly silver Telecaster with all gold hardware. I even used gold pickguard screws.

I had approximately enough spare parts for one Telecaster (but it was all gold), so I ordered a body and made this super fun little Tele. Every choice on it was a joke - but all together, dare I say - it works?

I ran a maple Strat neck on it for a month or so while I got the neck together --- when I swapped the real neck (rosewood over maple with big pearl blocks of course) over today I also replaced the bridge screws with gold ones. I'm head to toe legit now!

OK!

That is one awesome Tele, and it sounds great, too!

Thank you very much! I really like it. I put super duper low output vintage pickups in it because that's all I had in the way of Gold Telecaster Pickups  and you can hear me realizing that and struggling with it in the video, but I'm excited to learn how to use it. I have several Teles with Quarter Pounders and big loud pickups, this will be a fun change.

I am really digging the speed boat sparkle thing. The world needs more sparkly guitars. I am gonna get a sparklecaster this year.

I support it! I got this body from Guitarfetish, it's an "XGP" for what it's worth. Has a thick and very hard poly finish, very well-finished, and was $100. I got the neck from overseas via eBay for $70 shipped and it is much (much) better than Mexican-made Fenders. This is my second neck from this builder / factory, both have been impressive. I think it's an OEM manufacturer.

That's to say, one can throw one of these together pretty easily, especially if your parts drawer is full!

Sounds great, and I dig the understated look. I'm just disappointed it doesn't have gold fretwire.

:P

I got the rosewood neck really set up now, and it's playing FANTASTIC. More pictures because it's a pretty guitar.
