Hey guys,

here is my honest attempt at the tune:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wHonOUBdqY

This tune is probably the #1 tune to me - in all of guitar music. So I had to do this one, cliche or not cliche... I heard this tune - and it triggered a new chapter of my life 7 years ago - i had to play guitar. It is an honor to carbon copy this tune note for note. Stevie's music is like an unstoppable force, a limitless tap of pure musical power.

I am going to continue copying stuff for atleast 10 more videos. Then I will switch it up and go all improv :)

Unfortunately I was struggling in getting the tone. I believe I got much closer in getting the "Lenny" sound, the "#1" sound, however is ever-so-ilusive as always :( But I'm not gonna dwell on the failures, and just play from the heart, ya know? It's ok for what it is.

Left pan is the fender BJ.
Right pan is the marshall plexi.

Both are running pretty quiet - because i'm in an apartment.
If only i could really crank those amps - I would probably be able to get the tone then. Aw well. Some time i will get a house, then I will be able to crank them.

Good job!

I like little Chicken, as we have dubbed it around these parts:)
Cool job, sweet tone, tired as I am of SRV(like the Hendrix version alot more) I dig this!
You have some clip troubles on the clean??

Re: video: Little wing. Carbon Copied as always. I had to do this!

Ah man, a difficult tune for so many reasons but THE classic as you already pointed out. I dug it a lot, couldn't do it better. To "maintain" the loose feel throughout the song with control is the hardest part.

It's all cool and I enjoyed it, let's have a beer :friday: :D

Thanks you very much guys!! It's good that i did it, and now do not have to worry about it anymore. PHEW!! I fullfilled the rock'n'roll duty LOL

Yeah for some reason i was having clip troubles. Clean tone is so hard to record, cuz you barely get any meat (no mids), and then suddenly you hit the strings hard, and the treble spike is through the roof. Maybe a compressor before going in the amp itself would help?

Yeah its friday. A beer will be nice. And on to some Santana for more tone experimentation :)

Yeah those uppermid crck sounds are unpleasent for sure...
Look for optical comps, maybe a Demeter or the Maxon CP-101:)
Those are very nice to work with.

That was friggin awesome!!!

Re: video: Little wing. Carbon Copied as always. I had to do this!

its pretty cool. Most guitarists I know do their rendition of this song so its good to have down, yours is prolly cleaner than most. Thing to remember about Jimi is that he was the singer too...srv was a singer too... Dont forget to get your singing chops up. As for the mix, pretty sweet considering computer hookups and whatnot. I think you got the coverband jupebox bit down pat. Im more into original stuff so when you get some original recordings out there Ill have more comments.

Awesome, nice playing dude and great tone. I've seen many people try this one, not many get it right and yours is one of the best ones i've seen. I'm not to fond of the overdriven sound as it seems to sound a bit mushy too me but overall sounded pretty **** good. You nailed the SRV clean tone and style of playing very well, just a few parts seemed a bit "struggly" but all in all great performance!

Re: video: Little wing. Carbon Copied as always. I had to do this!

Thanks a lot guys. Yeah - i agree with everything you guys said. Right on!

I just popped another neck onto this guitar, and holy crap - a world of difference. Already finished another version. This one is better IMO, and I tried to rectify all the mistakes, such as clipping, thin tone at places, struggle, high action, etc... This is a learning process.

It will be up in 1 hour or so. I already watched it, and I think lots of the problems are rectified.

Also GOTTA HAVE THE ROSEWOOD BOARD!! that is the ticket!!! (in my case the whole neck is rosewood. 1 7/8 at the nut 6100 frets.) stay tuned.
