Your vocals are being overpowered by the guitar. In an open mic situation it can be tough to get a decent mix because things can change so radically from one performer to another. (I've run hundreds of open mic nights by the way.) A good host will take the time to make a quick tweak but as the performer you need to be aware and be prepared for the worst. You guitar has a volume control so you could have turned it down a bit. In a guitar/vocal performance you really want the vocal to stand out.
