Vintage 18v live wire set questions

I purchased on 7/27/18, and just received a full set of 18v LW-HS1 pickups on from an ebay seller that were advertised as new. They indeed look new, but the set came with two neck p/u's (#IEG47 strat neck) and one bridge p/u (#IGW11 HSB LW B) with lead wires about 2" shorter than the neck p/u's, and oddly, the instruction sheet shows 3 single coils but states "This wiring works for all Live Wires HSS sets" (not SSS sets as I would expect).

My questions are, is there no specific middle p/u with this set, or did I get screwed over for the middle p/u on the purchase? And the instructions also show all 3 pots are 100k... but I have seen mention of 10k being the correct value for these pickups. Which is correct?

Thank you in advance for responding.

Re: Vintage 18v live wire set questions

The neck and middle should be the same pickup, I doubt they had a different middle for that set. That set definitely calls for 100k pots instead of the standard 25k most actives use.

The live wire 2’s and blackouts use 9v with 25k pots and are in phase with other brands of actives, the 1’s still sound really good though.

Awesome! I just wanted to be sure. Yes, I love the 1's... I have two sets (one each) already installed in my two main Strats (one set that came with my #1 Strat and one set installed by my guitar tech into my #2 Strat as my backup) and between them and my Digitech GSP 2101 I always get great compliments on my tone. But this is the first time I've actually bought a set outright, and I know the 18v's are a rarity now so I wanted to pick these up for a Strat build I am working on before they disappeared completely.

Thanks again for the input!

Welcome to the forum!

Let us know how it sounds when they are installed! We don't see those a lot around here.

As I said, this is my 3rd set, and I love the way they sound, as do fans of my band. We are an Orlando-based band, but since you are in Tampa, this Saturday 8/4/2018 (http://www.theaccuzed.com/calendar.html) we are playing at Ybor Live in Lakeland (https://www.facebook.com/YborLounge/) if you would like to come out and hear them for yourself. If you do, please introduce yourself.
