Vintage Ampeg Reverberocket?

Hey folks. I have an original Ampeg Reverberocket amp with 1 12" Jensen Concert Series speaker. I was wondering how loud I can crank that sucker up before it becomes dangerous for the amp. It isnt a very loud amp to begin with. Should I worry about damaging the speaker because its so old?

I don't think that there should be any problems cranking it all the way as long as the amp is iwell maintained and the speaker is physically sound.

Re: Vintage Ampeg Reverberocket?

If that's a alnico P12P (common in those amps), full blast won't do it any good. Those amps run about 18 watts (2x7591, cathode bias) and the original rating for a P12P is someplace around 16 watts. Figure in derating over time, and you will be looking at a recone if you run it too hard. I'd box it up and swap to a RI or something more efficient...FWIW, I've blown original cone P12N's in 5C3 Deluxes (12 watts) cranking them up.

That's a great little amp. Think of it as apoor mans Deluxe Reverb. I had one when I was a kid. It was the main amp I had for quite a while. Don't abuse it. I would also recommend swapping out the original speaker.

My friend has one. Great little amp. The speaker doesn't like really high volume settings, so I'd shy away from totally cranking it without changing the speaker.
