are these two virtually the same pickup? any difference in attack, tone and output? maybe scott can pop in and enlighten me.

They are supposed to be very close, but I would think that the Phat Cat having a metal cover is going to change the sound a bit. Either way, I think that the Phat Cat is a fantastic sounding pickup in both the neck and the bridge (calibrated, of course).
