Vollume Drop on Pos 2 & 4

Hello to all... It's been awhile since I've been on here to post, but I lurk in the background and read up on interesting things you veterans post to keep the Forum alive...

I just installed a JB Jr-B, Lil 59 in neck and mid, and used a super-5way switch exactly as the schematic shows on the resource page. Pos 2 & 4 give me the exact sound I'm going for, but the volume drops SIGNIGICANTLY in these positions. I'm certain it's not the wiring, I triple checked and everything works as it should (minus the volume drop). Is this inherent in combining the 2 pickups? Is there anything I can do to balance the sound of the positions. Pickup height it perfect for 1, 3 & 5...

As always, any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Gordo

What guitar have you modified and which exact schematic diagram have you followed?

Stratocaster, and the proper 3 hums, 1vol, 2 tones, super 5-way scematic provided on SD wiring diagram resource page

Re: Vollume Drop on Pos 2 & 4

On the middle pickup, using the green and black conductors for the series link and coil split has the effect of reversing the coil wind direction on that pickup. What this does not do, however, is reverse the magnetic polarity. It is necessary to do both to achieve hum-cancellation between two split Li'l humbuckers.

The volume drop is the result of electrical phase reversal.
