voltage followers before a tone circuit why?

When looking at fender and marshall schematics i always see a voltage follower circuit before a tone circuit why is that?

What else are voltage followers circuits used for?

I don't know whether to be worried by the fact you are looking at amp schematics or to find it cool that you understand any of them (I sure don't).

Join a school or befriend an electrician of some sort. I'm sure you'll get better training than in some forum.

CATHODE followers are included before tone stacks to match impedance - they supply a lot of drive current to the "lossy" tone stack, while not providing extra gain.

And that'a as far as I'm going to get sucked into this thread.

But the tone stack changes the impedance of the output of the Cathode follower , it changes the cathode followers symmetry

Why does it change the cathodes followers symmetry?

Fascinated?

I think we all are....in kind of a morbid way.

I was once told to be a good example or a terrible warning.

Walters exists as the terrible warning to players that spend too much time learning about the physics of the gear rather than actually just playing.

I knew a guy like this once... this character who always called & came into the store I worked at when I was about 19... A bass player. Wow. Some memories there!
