Volume coming through mute switch

I was playing my fender bassbreaker 15 the other day at pretty much max gain and volume. I broke a string and put the amp into mute while changing it, however at max gain and volume, there was still some quiet output coming out of the speaker. I even played some riffs with it in mute mode and although it was quiet, I could hear everything I was playing. Does anyone have any idea why?

Seeing how it's not a standby switch, I'm gonna guess it's just some bleed-thru that would probably be considered normal (especially seeing how you had the gain and volume cranked). But that's just a guess. I don't know how the switch is actually implemented.
