Re: Volume pedal question(s)
The Dunlop HighGain is passive, and despite its name doesn't boost the signal, though it is designed primarily for use with longer cables. I use mine with a 25 foot cable (maybe 50 - been a while since I've needed it and can't remember where I last saw it).
However, it does have a teensy issue with the sweep range - by default it's set to turn to 0 but will never reach 10. If you tweak the spindle on the pot so it goes to 10, it'll never go to 0. Maybe to 1 or 2. But it's never really been a problem for me unless I bash the strings with the heel down. No feedback from it, no hiss, etc, but it's never really "off". Without adjusting the spindle, you'll probably never feel like your sound is where it should be. Even with a 500T in a Les Paul Standard, it sounded a bit choked until I tweaked the pot.
