I bought this strat from a buddy of mine for $50 a few days ago (and practically scored a date right afterwards because of it, but that's a different story). It's a 3 single coil guitar with the option of putting a humbucker in the bridge position. All I would have to do is buy a replacement neck with the humbucker spacing in its appropriate place. It plays alright, but could use some upgrading. You guys all know what I'm talking about; we all have to mess with stuff until it's just right. I have narrowed my project down to two options:

1. create the best, yet cheapest version of Yngwie's siggy guitar (Dimarzio HS-3 pickups and a scalloped fretboard)

2. take advantage of the humbucker spacing

if option 2 is favored more, there will be another poll on which direction I should go as far as pickups are concerned.

So, citizens of seymour duncan's web forum, place your vote!! My fate is now in your hands...and stuff. :D

SSH all the way. And do you mean replacement pickguard instead of neck?

Ummm....I think it depends on what YOU want out of it. There are times when ONLY a single coil will do it in the bridge. Oh yeah, I know that an HS-3 isn't a 'true' single, but sounds much more like one than a JB, or whatever. If you like humbuckers, go for it (I have some of my strats modded with humbuckers in the bridge...love em that way).

It's all a matter of choice, but heres what I've liked so far...

HRn-stock single-JBb
PGn-no middle-JBb
PGn-no middle-FSb
Texas Specialn-TSm-PG+b
Fat 50's x 3 (all singles)

These are some of my favorite setups...Good luck!
