Vox 848 Clyde Wah Kinda Lame,But Not After The Mods!

My modded 847 put this reissue Vox Clyde Wah to shame! These wahs just miss the point with the wrong components and the wrong pot and inductor..

Check out my now great sounding modded 848 board..Notice the Fulltone inductor,NOS Tropical Fish caps, BC109B transistors, and my ideas and tweaks on the board..I'm going to also try all carbon comp resistors in my other wah(The 847)...I also made it possible to simply remove the 2 transistors without having to remove the board and unsolder and resolder if I want to experiment..Transistors and heat don't get along..It takes me 5 minutes to pop a set of transistors out(The MPSA18s)and try some vintage ones..

This Clyde 848 is a great foundation to build upon, but it's thin and lacks the correct pot range it needs to get it to be very vocal...

I was wondering whether the 848 was an improvement over the 847, so thanks for the heads up. Is there any advantage then in modding the 848 vs. the 847? It seems like the lower price of the 847 would give it the nod for mod.

What can be done to make the sweep more linear? I'm wondering if I should let you take a crack at my Budda Bud Wah, or if I should just sell it and buy a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe? Or, just slap myself, and stop jonesin! Ha

So I take it that the RI Fasel's that Dunlops put out are just gonna be a waste of time? (Glad I didn't jump on one yet!)

The 848 already comes with true bypass, power supply, and what looks like both a buffer and a slight boost built within the circuit..

The 847 is a great wah also but lacks true bypass, and a power supply...These items would have to be modded into the 847..Or at least true bypass could be..If you want the Fulltone pot and inductor, that runs almost $60 just for those 2 parts before any of the mods..

The 848 really just needs a Fulltone pot and some board tweaks...

Sell the Buddah and get yourself the Fulltone wah...The Teese is great, but I returned mine because I honestly thought my modded 847 was just as good or even a little better..

I Like the Fasel from what I've heard so far..I'm building another 847 board that I can compare with my fulltone inductor board I'm using now in my 847..
